The passing of Rita Catherine Chiasson of Fredericton, formerly of Barry’s Special Care Home, occurred on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was 87.
Born in New Waterford NS and Roman Catholic by faith, she worked for several years in retail sales, was a member of Al-Anon and the Oromocto Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 Ladies Auxiliary as well as being an avid collector of most everything under the sun.
Survived by two sons, George Chiasson (Wanda) of Carleton Place Ontario, John Chiasson (Annalisa) of Calgary Alberta, three daughters Marie Boudreau (Roy) of Trenton Ontario, Gloria Rutter (Richard) of Ottawa Ontario, Lorette Gray (Phil) of Sharbot Lake Ontario, two sisters Theresa Dicks (Harold) and Mary Ellen Pelham both of Cape Breton NS, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Louis J. Chiasson two sons Louis Thomas and David Richard and a son in law Jeffrey Potts.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road where visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held from St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12:05 PM with Rev. Bill Brennan officiating. Following cremation, interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery.
For those who wish, donations can be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 Oromocto Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 PM.
