It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald E. Bell of Harvey, NB, announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 4, 2012. He was 87. Born in Tweedside, NB, he was the son of the late George Edward and Hazel (Simmons) Bell and husband of the late Betty Marie (Parker) Bell. Ron was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ronald was a plumber with Gunter’s Plumbing and retired from the Department of Supply and Services and was always there moonlighting helping many neighbours with the plumbing in Prince William. A member of the St. Andrew’s United Church, as well as the Golden Age Seniors, Harvey LOL #58, LOBA #1254, Harvey Lions Club and Lifetime member of the Lake George Gun Club. Ron was an avid card player, hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler, four wheeler, loving being in the outdoors. He took great pride in carving gun stocks out of walnut, but the greatest love he had were for his children, grand and great grandchildren taking interest in all their sporting activities especially hockey which he had a great passion for. He enjoyed the Harvey Outreach dinners and many a drives throughout his beautiful province.
He is survived by his two children Nancy Lee Grieve (Donald), Brent Bell (Heather); grandchildren Ronald Grieve (Jill), David Grieve (Shannon), Andrea Hannah (Randy), Haley Bell (Colton), Cody Bell; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Gracie and Ava Grieve, Emma and Molly Grieve, Maddison and Griffan Hannah; sister-in-law Marjorie Bell; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother John Bell; sisters and brother-in-laws Iona (Russell) Cleghorn, Bernice (Robert) Haines, Orie (Charlie) McCullough.
Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Harvey on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 1-3 PM. A funeral service will be held from the church on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 3:30 PM with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating. Interment in the Rural Cemetery Ext. at a later date.
No flowers by request, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Church Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society. A reception will follow at the C. E. Centre.
