It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Rose Janssen announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, following a courageous battle with Melanoma. Karen was born in Ajax, Ontario on February 12, 1963. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and was an avid reader and especially loved cats.

Karen is survived by her father John Hogenhout (Shirley) of Stetson, Maine; her mother Dorothy Hogenhout of Fredericton; a daughter Kristen Janssen of Victoria, B.C.; a son Dirk Janssen of Hamilton, Ont.; granddaughters Jasmine Walsh, Lily Janssen and Layla Colson; two sisters, Helen Hogenhout of Fredericton and Deborah Patterson (Dean) of Lansdowne, N.B.; three brothers, James Hogenhout (Pam) of Slave Lake, AB, John Hogenhout (Rose) of Burton, N.B. and David Hogenhout (Nancy) of Edmonton, AB; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Although there will be no visiting hours, friends are welcome to join the family at the memorial service, celebrating the Karen’s life, which will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, N.B. Rev. Bob Jones will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. The Fredericton S.P.C.A. and the Cancer Research Society have been designated for memorial contributions.
