Arnold H. Chase

1932-2012

Arnold H. Chase

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Arnold H. Chase of Durham Bridge, N.B. announce his passing. This occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 19, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Arnold was 79. Born March 4, 1932 in Durham Bridge, he was the son of the late George and Winnifred (Estey) Chase.

Dad/Grampy was a Welder by trade and worked on many buildings, bridges and structures in the Fredericton area and throughout NB., in particular The UNB Mens Residence and the Westmorland Street Bridge.

His passion was playing his guitar and singing, which he continued to do throughout his life. He played his guitar and sang a week ago to his room mates and nurses at the hospital and later asked "did I really sound good?" And "yes he did"!

He was most proud of his family and never hesitated to tell everyone who would listen.

Arnold is survived by daughters Kathy Chase (Arnold Toporowski) of Ottawa, Judy Chase-Woodcock (Miles) of Durham Bridge and Marlita Chase of Durham Bridge and his son Randy Chase (Patricia) of Magaguadavic Lake, N.B.; grandchildren, Shelley Dunphy (Brent), April-Lynn Colford (Todd), Matthew and Jenna Chase, Dylan, Ashley and Marina Woodcock; great-grandchildren Daniel Dunphy and Lauren Colford; sisters, Leatha Pineault (Austin) and Dianne Potter (Ron) both of Fredericton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnold also had a special buddy, Charlie the dog.

Arnold was predeceased by his parents; his wife Marina (LeFait) Chase and a brother George Chase.

The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday January 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 2 pm from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Brennan officiating.  Friends and family are invited to join us at the Monsignor Boyd Family Centre, 120 Regent Street following the service for refreshments. Interment in the Lower Durham Cemetery at a later date. The family has suggested donations in memory of Arnold can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the staff of 4SW and 3E at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness given to our Dad/Grampy.
