Li-Jeng Yu Lee passed away peacefully on January 16, 2012, with her family at her side. Born in Chiatou, Taiwan to Yu Hong-hen and Ping Yu on September 16, 1939, she was an exceptional teacher until immigrating to Canada. She nurtured enduring friendships everywhere with her ready smile and kind giving heart. For 20 years, she assisted the Margolian brothers in their Fredericton clothing store. An enthusiastic swimmer, superb cook and gifted gardener, she never let her lengthy battle with cancer define her. When her cancer returned, she sewed hundreds of hats to comfort other oncology patients.
Li-Jeng is survived by her husband of 50 years Ting; children Susan (Bill), Shirley (Will), and Rejean (Shelley); grandchildren Margaret, Mary and Louis. They were her pride and joy. She is also survived by sister Chu Wei; brothers Hwa-pei and Ching Yu; nephew Aguan; niece Lily.
The family wishes to thank Dr.’s Ann Collins, Debbie Gowan, and Margot Burnell, the Oncology and Palliative Care Units for their compassionate care.
There will be no funeral service at Li-Jeng’s request.
Donations in Li-Jeng’s memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society or Palliative Care Unit.
