Juanita Deveza Seno, mother and grandmother, passed away on July 14, 2020 in her sleep while surrounded by love, thoughts and prayers by her family. She was 87 years old and lived a rich and full life. Mama Gaga, as she is fondly called, was born on August 13, 1932 in Talakag, Bukidnon, Philippines.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Pelicornio L. Seno, of 45 years. She was a retired primary school teacher and dedicated her life as a loving wife and devoted mother to her eleven children: sons Wilfredo, Jaime, Leo, Efren, Ruel, Harry, and daughters Jean, Cleofe, Ruth, Ophelia, and Marisel. In the fall of 2006, after she lost Tatay in the Philippines, Mama Gaga immigrated to Fredericton, New Brunswick so she could live with her youngest daughter, Marisel and her husband Samuel Benigno.

She was the strongest and sweetest woman. Mama Gaga was full of courage, compassion and humility. During the challenges of life, she was the calm voice that help us to continue to hope and persevere. She was never afraid of embracing life and make the most of it. She loved to travel and explore as much as she loved to spend hours in her flower garden. Mama was proficient in crocheting and spent her time doing this during the cold days. She was fond of watching NBA games during her relaxing moments and was an avid fan of the Toronto Raptors. For all the time she lived here in Canada, she would watch any Toronto Raptors games even up to the wee hours in the morning and how happy she was when her favorite team finally became an NBA champion last year.  Until her very last day, Mama Gaga was active in the life of the church at Grace Memorial Baptist. Never wanting to miss the chance of meeting her church family and singing the hymns. She was a gifted singer. Her wonderful voice was the soundtrack of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Juanita is survived by her four siblings Ludy, Inday, Piping and Euly; her Eleven children, her daughters-in-law and sons in-law, her several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held at the Bishop’s Funeral Home, Woodstock Road, on Saturday at 1-4 pm. A celebration of Mama Gaga’s life will be held at Grace Memorial Baptist Church on July 21, 2020.  Due to Covid 19 regulations only invited guest may attend.  She will be laid to rest after the church service in a private ceremony in Rural Cemetery Woodstock Road.
