It is with broken hearts the family of David McPhee announces his passing on June 2, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 71 as a result of his recent battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Dave was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In 1955, his parents moved the family to New Brunswick and settled in the community of Kingsclear. Dave remained in the community his entire life, building a home for his own family not far from where he grew up.

A carpenter by trade, Dave spent his career working in the Physical Plant at the University of New Brunswick for over 30 years where he made many lifelong friends. Dave also gave a great deal back to his community by being a valued member of the Upper Kingsclear Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years.

Dave was a kind and gentle man who never hesitated to go out of his way to help others. He loved to joke, tell stories about the old days and was a great friend to many. Above all else, Dave was extremely proud of his family and showed his love for them as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 44 years, Gail, his only daughter Catherine, his son-in-law Andrew Speight and his cherished grandson (and sidekick) Nate.

Dave is also survived by his brothers Arthur, and John (Marie) and his sister Sandra (Don) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Eddie and Gerard as well as his parents Frank and Victoria MacPhee.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Amy Russell, Dr. Julie Leal, Dr. Saleem Raza, Dr. Amber Swan, the NB Extra Mural program and the nurses and staff at the DECH for their support and care for Dave throughout his illness.

At this time, there will only be a small, private graveside service on June 8, 2020 at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Kingsclear. A larger memorial service will take place when permitted.

Donations in memory of Dave may be made to DECH Palliative Care or a charity of the donor’s choice. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
