It is with profound sadness that the family of Donald Parker Wood announces his passing on December 20, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Donald was born on February 3, 1938 in Minto, NB, a son of the late Clarence and Della (McGaghey) Wood.

Survived by two adoring sons Chris (Colleen) Wood of Kamloops, BC, and Scott (Ruth) Wood of Fredericton; his adoring daughter Heather (Timothy) Liddle of Hanwell; his five grandchildren Ryne (Emily) Wood, Erin Wood (Craig), Amy (Zack) Otteson, Ella and Parker Liddle; as well as his great granddaughter Luna Wood. He is also survived by his sister Joan (Carl) Cripps of Flesherton, Ontario as well other family and several nieces and nephews. Don is survived by his very special friend Iva Gilkes-Farkas, whom a special bond was formed after the passing of each of their spouses.

Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Joyce (Chapman) of 58 yrs. on April 1, 2017.

He was a member of Journey Wesleyan Church for many years and loved participating in Shuffleboard with his church friends. He worked as a draftsman with the Provincial Government for over 30 years. Don loved watching and coaching his boys in their multiple sports. He was extremely proud of his children and their chosen careers. He would never hesitate to tell someone that they all had careers that helped others (a Principal, a Pastor and a Nurse).  Nothing brought more joy to Don, than watching his grandchildren excel in their activities, whether it was sports or art.

Visitation will be held at the Journey Wesleyan Church on December 22 from 1 – 4 PM. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at the church on December 23 at 1 PM with Rev Matt Maxwell and Rev Pete Thomas officiating.

For those wishing to make a donation in Don's memory, Boaz Lighthouse International Ministries PO Box 3681, 35 Hughes Street, Fredericton, NB E3A 5L7 or Journey Wesleyan Church, have been requested by the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton (458-1885) Condolences and the sharing of memories may be expressed online through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
