It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Wood, 81 years old of Fredericton, New Brunswick. She passed away in the early hours of November 14, 2019. Joan was the sole daughter of Allison and Stella Scott. Joan grew up with her mother Stella in Canterbury, New Brunswick.

She is predeceased by her brother Dale Scott and survived by Wayne and Barry Scott. Joan married Ivan Wood on February 25, 1956 in Bristol, New Brunswick. Ivan and Joan raised their family in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She is predeceased by a son Barry Lowell and his wife Mary Ellen. Survived by her husband Ivan and four sons Clifton (Grecia), Brian (Jill), Gary (Debby) and Jeffery (Lisa). Joan had eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Joan was a homemaker and a member of Order of Royal Purple at the Fredericton Elks Club. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan’s contagious laugh and affectionate smile will not be forgotten as well as her warm welcoming nature.  

A very special thank you to the nurses, resident assistants and personal care workers of Thomas Hall at the Shannex Nursing Home for all the care and support they provided to Joan over the years and the kindness shown to our family in the last few days. 

Joan will be cremated, and the visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 7 to 9pm. Burial will be at a later date.
