The death of Jean Gunter Kitchen of Fredericton, NB, occurred at Windsor Court Retirement Residence on October 27, 2019. Born in lower Queensbury, NB, on June 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Blanche McLaughlin and wife of the late Reginald Kitchen. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her three devoted sons, Glenn (Audrey), Gerald (Rose Donnelly), and Andrew (Martha), all of Fredericton; Nine Grandchildren, Shelly Kitchen, Natalie Walker, Krista Liston, Lisa Sullivan, Trina Kitchen Coté, Sean Kitchen, Jason, Jonathon, and Matthew Kitchen; Numerous Great Grandchildren; Two sisters-in-law, Freyda Gereau and Hazel Kitchen; and several nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States.
Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Harold, Ralph, and Wendell McLaughlin, and three sisters, Doris Whiting, Blanche Gay, and Ethel Tracey.
In keeping pace with Jeans wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date, with Rev. Dr. Ross Hebb officiating. Interment will take place at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Peters Anglican Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
