Deanna J.B. Stairs (nee MacNevin)
The family of Deanna June Beatrice Stairs are sad to announce her passing on August 25, 2019, at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital after fighting a courageous battle. Deanna was born in Summerside, PEI on July 13, 1950 to parents, the late Hubert and Doris (Vincent) MacNevin.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh Stairs; her sons, Preston Stewart and Trevor Stewart; a much-adored grandson, Dalton Stewart; Brothers, Clifford MacNevin (Lorraine) and Wendall MacNevin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Deanna worked at Walmart, store 3032 until her illness would not allow her to continue. She was well respected by her customers, co-workers and managers at the store. In her spare time, she enjoyed the Red Hatters, needle point, doing puzzles and gardening and was known in the community for her elaborate Halloween displays. She was a very caring and giving person, always thought of others and how she could be of help if they needed it. She did a lot of fundraising for the Cancer Society, Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Lakeland Industries. She was a true and loyal friend and was devoted to her extended family.
A visitation will be held at Bishops Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, on Thursday, August 29th from 6-9pm. A Service will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 4pm at St John Anglican Church, 62 South Drive, Summerside PEI.
If so desired, the family has suggested that donations in Deanna’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr, Everett Chalmers Hospital as they were gracious and made her last days comfortable.
