It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Bill Ralph of Shannex, Fredericton on January 4, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.

Bill was born on August 25th, 1927 in Montreal.  He was the son of the late Harry R. and Beatrice J. Ralph.

Bill was happily married for over 66 years to Nadine Mavis (Ingalls).  He is also survived by his children Debbie (Richard) MacTavish, Peter Ralph and Susan (Doug) Peters; his sister Betty (Doug, deceased) Sharp; grandchildren Mark (Meghan), Brent and Jeff MacTavish, Chris, Ian and Hannah Ralph, Ray and Carrie Peters; great-granddaughters Ava, Gwen and Ellie MacTavish; and sister-in-law Lois Phillips (Trevor, deceased) as well as several nephews and nieces.

Bill was an educator most of his life and worked as a teacher at Ormstown High, Cartierville Elementary and Montreal High.   He persevered to obtain his master’s degree while working.  He became a Vice Principal at Riverdale High and continued to teach physics while taking on the duties as Principal at Lachine High School in the Province of Quebec.  He was honoured to receive the Gordon Paterson Award for outstanding service to the education of children.

Bill enjoyed 36 years of retirement.  He loved his flowers and gardens and was an avid reader of mystery novels.   Bill and Nadine thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with friends and cherished the many wonderful trips they were able to take together.  They enjoyed the fresh air while walking and cross-country skiing.

The family would like to thank Dr. T. Barry and staff; the Extra Mural personnel; and the palliative care nurses and doctors for their excellent care and compassion.

A small private family gathering will take place to celebrate Bill’s life.

If so desired, donations in Bill’s memory can be made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
