Dib passed peacefully on December 21, 2018, at Hospice House, in Fredericton, NB, after a months long battle with cancer.  Born in 1948 in Fih, Lebanon, he immigrated to Canada in 1972, returning home in 1974 to marry his wife of 44 years, Sabah.  The two settled in Fredericton, raising four children, Mary, Simon, Miled, and Diana.  Dib will forever be remembered by his loved ones and friends for his warm smile, kindness, and heart of gold. He cherished spending time with his family, who meant the world to him.  In recent years, he loved spending time in his garden and yard, spending time with his wife Sabah, his children, grand children, and best friend of 46 years, Shalita Hanna.  He enjoyed watching his Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens.  Early in his life he was immersed in Fredericton’s Lebanese community and culture, involved in the church community at St. Charbel’s Maronite Catholic Church, and was a member of the Lebanese Dabke group.  He loved Canada, but naturally his heart was always connected to Lebanon.  He was able to return for an extended time in recent years, something which warmed his heart and soul, and now gives his loved ones comfort.

Dib is survived by his wife Sabah, his children Mary (Troy), Simon (Jennifer), Miled, and Diana (Kirk); his grandchildren, Simon, Johnny, Jayden, Scarlett, Brianna, Anna, Amelia, and Lachlan, his sisters Violette Youssef, Lulu Ibrahim, Nouhad Nassif, brother Simon Haddad, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Hanna Haddad and Mariana Fares Haddad, his sisters Victoria Haddad and Manarva Wakim, and two brothers who died in childhood.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who provided Dib and his family with comfort over the last few days at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (4SE) and Hospice House.  Thanks too to all those who took time to visit with Dib and the family over the last few days, and to those who have offered thoughts and prayers from a distance.

Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home on December 27th from 6-9 pm.  There will be a prayer service held at 8 pm (Msgr Elie Zouein).  A funeral will be held at St. Charbel’s Catholic Church on December 28th at 11 am, with a reception to follow.  An interment will be held at a later date.

Condolences can be expressed online at bishopsfuneralhome.com  Donations, if wished, can be offered to Hospice House and St. Charbel’s Catholic Church, at the family’s request.
