"Each day is born with a sunrise and ends in a sunset." The sunset of life for Violet Estey of Nashwaak Village and formerly of Fredericton came on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 when she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton. Violet was 91 and was very proud of her longevity of age.  Born at The Willows, Northumberland Co. (now known as Oak Point, NB) on March 26, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Eugene O. (LeBreton) Comeau.

Violet was a faithful member of St. Dunstan’s Parish in Fredericton where she was actively involved with the church C.W.L. Her working career would include 25 years with Hartt Shoe and Boot Co., Fredericton. She was a dedicated member of The Liberal Association of NB. and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.4 Ladies Auxiliary, Fredericton.

Violet is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Anne Estey of Gordonsville, NB and Shirley Marie Estey (Bob Gibson) of Nashwaak Village, NB; 5 granddaughters, Stacey McLaughlin of Newcastle, NB, Stephanie McLaughlin and Kayla McLaughlin both of Bartibog Bridge, NB, Jennifer Campbell of Fredericton and Jill MacIntosh of Wirral, NB; one grandson, Jonathan McKeil of Rusagonis; 7 great-grandchildren, Brock, Quinn, Lachlan, Lily, Maxwell, Emma and Jase. Violet is also survived by a son-in-law James McLaughlin of Bartibog, NB; three sisters, Ruby Burke of Dartmouth, NS, Anne Comeau (Eric) and Carmel Gallimore (Clive) both of Chatham, NB; two brothers, Eldon Comeau and Terrance Comeau (Elizabeth) both of Oak Point, NB; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from her parents and husband, Lloyd Maxwell Estey (2000), Violet was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret McLaughlin and brothers James and Sterling Comeau.

The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, 120 Regent Street, Fredericton on Saturday, September 15 at 2:30 PM with Father Bill Brennan as officiant. Interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery Field of Honor. The Fredericton S.P.C.A, Covenant House Toronto and R.C.L. Branch No.4 Poppy Fund has been designated for memorial contributions at Violet’s request. St. Dunstan’s CWL will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:15 PM followed by a tribute service by the RCL Ladies Auxiliary as well as legion members of Branch No.4, Fredericton at 7:00 PM.
