The passing of Elizabeth Constance Anne Grasman, wife of Peter Grasman of Fredericton occurred on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton after a brief illness.

Born in Chatham, N.B. on November 11th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late G. Roy and Annie (McKnight) Atkinson of Centre Napan, N.B.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and was predeceased by her siblings Jean, Helen (Jimmy), Margaret (George), Shirley (George), and Archie (Mary).

In addition to her husband of 52 years, Elizabeth is survived by her children Scott (Mary), Ian (Andrea), and Heather (Joe), and her precious grandchildren whom she loved dearly: David, Jack, Bridget, Peter, and Annie, her mother-in-law, Jane Grasman, a special sister-in-law, Mary Atkinson, her Grasman family in-laws, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and many great friends.

Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse by profession and retired in 2007 after more than 40 years beginning at the Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton, followed by the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton, but mostly in the neonatal intensive care and maternity units at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. While she loved her work, her priority was always her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved any opportunity she had to spend time with her family and friends. She had an infectious laugh, a great capacity for hard work, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Even in her last days, she faced her illness head on with courage, good humour, and grace.

The family wish to thank her entire medical team at both the DECH and Saint John Regional Hospital, and especially, the nursing staff of 4NW and 3E who showed Elizabeth such kindness while she was a patient in their care.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 26th 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road.  A service celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held Wednesday June 27th at 2 PM From Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton.

For those who wish, the family would appreciate donations in Elizabeth’s memory to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Expressions of sympathy and sharing of memories can be expressed online through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
