It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Gabriel Sacobie of Kingsclear First Nation on May 30th, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was 81. Born in Oromocto NB, he was a son of the late Richard and Annie (Atwin) Sacobie.
Stephen was a social development officer for Indian Affairs for several years, a former RCMP officer for 16 years and was Chief of Kingsclear First Nation for 16 years. He loved to fish, hunt and he also played senior softball for several years.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Emily Solomon, (MacKenzie) of Kingsclear NB, son Jason Solomon Polchies (Miranda) of Kingsclear, NB. four grandchildren, Brandon Polchies, Caden Polchies, Vanessa Polchies and Mackenzie Tomah, two sisters, Carolyn Saulis and Freda Berube of Kingsclear NB. as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Clifford Sacobie, John Sacobie, Norman Sacobie, Rufford Sacobie and Labelle Saulis and a nephew Spencer Saulis.
Resting at 102 Tomahawk Street, Kingsclear First Nation with visiting Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, A funeral Mass will be held Monday June 4th at 11 AM from St. Ann’s, Kingsclear with Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Stephen may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
