On Thursday, February 8, 2018, Fernand Martin, 90, of Fredericton passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Health Unit, Fredericton with his family by his side. Born in Drummond, NB on June 2, 1927, he was a son of the late Edmund and Eva (Gauvin) Martin.

Fernand was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Fredericton Elks Club and a past member of the R.C.L. Branch No. 4, Fredericton. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Fernand is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Helen M. Lawrence; 5 children, Larry, of Fredericton, Gary of Quispamsis, Neil of Saskatchewan, Donnie of Rusagonis and Noreen of Fredericton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Rene of Montreal and a sister Doreen Shaw of Woodstock, NB; nieces and nephews. 5 siblings predeceased him.

Fernand’s request for no visitation or service will be respected. Interment will be held later. The Fredericton SPCA and the Alzheimer’s Society of NB have been designated for memorial contributions.
