MAZEROLLE, Shirley Grace - age 83, Fredericton, passed away peacefully January 11, 2018 at Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Jemseg, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Burpee and Lottie (Dykeman) Elgee. She is survived by her sister, Lois Sheppard, Calgary; nieces Cindy Fukan (Kamil), Diane Noakes (Douglas), Joanne Bragg, all of Calgary; Cathy Strutt (James) of Sudbury; Lois Burrell (Richard), Brenda Daley (Timothy) both of Fredericton; nephews Larry Elgee (Joyce), Fredericton, Wayne Bonnar (Juanita), Calgary and Glenn Bonnar (Karen), Halifax; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband, Lloyd Mazerolle; sisters Lucile Bonnar and Hilda Savage ; brothers Russell Elgee and Lloyd Elgee; niece, Sandra Savage; nephews Russell Savage and John Sheppard.
Shirley's life was one of sacrifice and service. She was a care-giver with a big heart, beginning at home caring for her aging and sickly mother, and continuing throughout her life. Many visits were made to sick relatives and friends in hospitals and nursing homes. She never tired of sitting at their bedsides or preparing meals and doing daily chores as the need dictated. She was a friend to all and kept up on the family news as it developed and then kept her nieces and nephews informed. She was a resident of Risteen Landing on Queen Street for 24 years and participated in various social activities and hobbies. She leaves behind many friends she met at her place of residence. She was also a member of St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church and a long-time member of the CWL (Catholic Women's League).
Visitation will take place at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 from 2-4pm. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church, 120 Regent St., Fredericton, at 12 noon, Friday, January 19th, 2018; Father Bill Brennan officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
