Teddy died on January 1, 2018 at the age of 94. Born in Sunderland, England, Teddy was the only daughter of Eva and Frederick Genther, and sister to Thomas and James. At the age of 11, she was awarded a prestigious five year scholarship to "The Venerable Bede School for Girls" in Sunderland.

Teddy came to Canada in 1945 as a war bride of Sgt. Gordon Emerson MacFarlane of Edmundston, NB. Teddy and Gordon had a happy life in Edmundston. Teddy took photographs and wrote news stories for the local newspaper. She also wrote a column for a newspaper in Maine, USA. Teddy was a member of the UCW, the IODE, and the Edmundston Golf and Curling Club. After Gordon died in an industrial accident in 1970, Teddy married Gyula (Julius) Fazekas, owner of the Capital Art Gallery in Fredericton. Julius died in 2000 on a trip to his native Hungary, where he is buried in the village of his birth.

Teddy is survived by her six children:  Jeannie (John Lochead), Heather (Andrew Koncz), Candy (André Batten), "Mac"/Rob (Jarmila), "Doc"/Jamie (Jocelyne), and Sandy, as well as by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her brothers and one grandson.

The family extends thanks to all of Teddy’s caregivers and special gratitude to her long term care giver, Ellen Bellefountaine.

Cremation has taken place. Teddy’s ashes will be buried at a later date alongside Gordon’s, on their land in Riley Brook, NB.
