With sad hearts, the family of Ethel Helena Duncan announce her peaceful passing on Friday, December 22, 2017 at White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction, NB. Ethel was 92. She was born and raised in Canterbury (Dead Creek), NB a daughter of the late Andrew Morris and Edna Mae (McMullin) Anderson.

Ethel was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Fredericton and was actively involved with St. Peter’s A.C.W. Ethel was a hard worker. She taught school in McAdam, NB when she was 17 years old. In her later years, she worked in the sales department for Levine’s and was also the Office Manager for the family business, G. A. Duncan Electrical Limited. Always community minded, she helped run many community events.

Ethel met the love of her life, George Duncan, in her early 20’s and were united in marriage when she was 22. Ethel and George loved get-togethers and especially attending house parties where both the men and women had the opportunity to dress up fancy. They especially enjoyed those evenings because they were spent with friends. They enjoyed playing 45’s, Phase 10 and Dominos.

Ethel was an amazing cook and was famous for her homemade doughnuts. When her boys were young, the boys would come home from school and before they got to the door they could smell her delicious cooking. Such beautiful memories that last a lifetime. The legacy and inspiration that Ethel leaves her dear family will live on for generations to come but for now she has joined the morning stars. Well done thy good and faithful servant!

Ethel is survived by two sons, Gary (Kathy) and Brian (Bev); a daughter-in-law, Peggy; grandchildren, Shawn (Janet), Heather, Terri, Jason (Rena), Wendy, Emily Rose and Samuel. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Duncan and sisters-in-law, Janet, Louise, Barb and Ella Duncan; a very special friend, Arlene Moser; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband George, Ethel was predeceased by sons Stephen and Brent; sister Jessie (Vernon Hunt); sisters-in-law Rebecca, Agnes, Marg and Marjorie; also, brothers-in-law Jimmy, Eugene (and his daughter Sharon), Bill (and his daughter Nancy), David, Alden, Jack and Ken.

Although there will be no visitation hours at this time, a memorial service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM from St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 2375 Woodstock Road, Fredericton with The Rev. Canon Dr. Ross N. Hebb officiating. Interment in the Acton Cemetery later. Due to many family and friends being away at this time, a time of visitation with a service at Bishop’s Funeral Home will be scheduled in the spring of 2018.

For those who wish to remember Ethel by way of a memorial contribution, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Diabetes Association, St. Peter’s Anglican Church or to a favorite charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
