Ed’s heart cry and earnest prayer to go home to be with his beloved, sweet wife was answered on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Ed Garnett was reunited once again with the love of his life, Ruth (Keeble) Garnett who predeceased him in 2013. Ed was a resident of White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction. Born at Ottawa, ON, May 8, 1932 he was a son of the late Alfred William Edward Garnett and Jessie Craig (Horan) Garnett.

Ed was a member of St. Luke’s Chapel, Base Gagetown. He was also an active member of the Oromocto Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 93. He and Ruth thoroughly enjoyed curling and were members of the Oromocto Square Dance Club and the Base Gagetown Bowling League. Ed and Ruth were well respected and long-time members of the Mic Mac Trailer Club at Lake George, NB. Ed and Ruth made many lasting friendships over the years as they gathered with friends in the morning and evening at Gateway Tim Horton’s, Oromocto. Ed was a member and strong supporter of the Fredericton and area (Northside) Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Ed was a dedicated employee of the Department of National Defense, Base Gagetown where he worked as a Supply Technician for 25 years. Once retired from Military Service he began working as a Public Servant as a Supply Technician from 1977 – 1993. His working career also included Ward’s Garage where he oversaw supplies and maintenance. He also enjoyed his time working for Warren Hawkins Trailers, Lower St. Mary’s, NB.

Ed will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Deborah Daigle (Henry) of Mactaquac and Barbara Kinney (Roger) of Fredericton. His grandchildren, Nicholas Daigle and Ashley Underhill always held a special place in his heart. Two siblings survive Ed, Gary Garnett (Glynn Howland) and Marlene Allen (George) both of Ottawa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Ed was very proud of his "Boyz", two purebred Black Labs, Titan Prince Caspian Kinney and Titan Storm Cloud Kinney. Ed thought it important that his daughters learn to drive a standard transmission car and that they teach their children also. He always said, "you really don’t know how to drive a car until you learn to drive a standard transmission car."

Aside from his parents, Ed dearly missed his loving and devoted wife Ruth and he had a favorite saying about the makings a great marriage…..use the words "yes dear" often and with a smile.

Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A service celebrating the life of Ed Garnett will be held from St. Luke’s Chapel, Champlain St., Base Gagetown on Sunday, June 25 at 3:30 PM.  Padre Darryl Levy will officiate. Interment, which will immediately follow the service, will be held in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens. RCL Branch No. 93, Oromocto, will hold a Tribute Service at the funeral home Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM. For those who wish to remember Ed by way of a memorial contribution, the family suggests donations to Prostate Cancer Canada or to a charity of your choice.
