Orville Herbert Mason passed away peacefully at Fredericton Hospice House on May 30th, 2017 at the age of 94. Born May19th, 1923 in Glen Almond, Quebec to the late Alric and Minnie (Winges) Mason.
Survived by his wife Mary (Morehouse) Mason, six children – Brenda Steer & Paul (Delta, BC) , Dianne Craft & John (Bloomfield, NB), Judy Delaney (Saint John, NB.), Lynn Mason & Sharon (Fredericton ,NB), Susan Cosman & Doug, (100 Mile House, BC), & Tom Mason & Angela (Black’s Harbour, NB. ) as well as 23 dear nieces and nephews including Alex Rose, Kimberly Mossman and Jeffrey Rose. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.
Besides his parents, Orville was predeceased by his first wife Lillian Marie (Godwin) Mason, a daughter Wendy Arlene, & three sisters – Mabel Buiste, Muriel Barrie, Mildred Olsen.
Orville was a World War II veteran, a 33rd degree Past Grand Master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of NB and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play the fiddle and his harmonicas.
Although there will be no visitation, a memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Jemseg Baptist Church on Young’s Cove Rd. with Rev. Chris Price officiating. A reception will follow in the Church fellowship room. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice House Fredericton.
