The passing of Donald James McManus occurred on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in Grand Falls, NB, he was a son of the late Francis and Katherine (Dionne) McManus. Don lived, the majority of his life in Saint-André, NB where he owned and operated his own potato farm until 1973. He then, went to work for the NB Department of Agriculture until his retirement.

Don loved fishing, hunting, playing crib, reading, and especially spending quality time instilling strong family values on his loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa; children Carolyn Forsythe (Blair) of Hampton, NB, Michael McManus of Fredericton, NB, David McManus (Brenda) of Hanwell, NB, Kevin McManus of Oshawa, ON; 12 grandchildren Donnie, Matthew and Christopher Johnson, Rob, Jennifer, Jordan, Jill, Shawn, James, Erica,  Liam and Madison McManus; 9 great grandchildren Mia Johnson, Kayla Williams, Allie, Charlee, Esme, Elias, Momo, Hiro and Charlotte McManus; his siblings Esther Slater of Tallmadge, OH, Joanne Ward of Fredericton, Zita Fox of Philadelphia, PA, Vaughn McManus (Lawanda) of Fredericton, Bernadette "Bunny" Cyr of Florida, Floyd McManus of Acton, MA, Raymond McManus (Ettie) of Montreal, QC, Madonna McManus of Grand Falls, NB;  numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Don was also predeceased by a son Steven McManus; 2 daughters Sharon and Mary McManus; daughter-in-law Colleen (McLaughlin) McManus; grandson Andrew Johnson.

Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Wednesday March 29, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish Church Hanwell Road Fredericton on Thursday March 30, 2017 at 12:00 noon with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment will be held in Grand Falls, NB at a later date. Memorials to the Parkinson Foundation, Extra Mural Hospital or the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.
