The passing of Ethel Delia Hazlett, widow of the late Roland E. Hazlett, occurred at Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the age of 96. Born in Zealand, NB, on January 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late James and Zella (Brewer) Estey.

Ethel was a homemaker all her life and the highlight of every week was having her family over for Sunday dinners where they thoroughly enjoyed her specialty cake…white cake trimmed with Dream Whip and covered with sliced bananas. Ethel was a gifted knitter and loved to knit sweaters and socks. Born with a generous spirit, Ethel delighted in buying gifts for her family at Christmas and on their birthdays.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, Ethel leaves behind her loving and devoted daughter, Doris Lovean of Fredericton; 9 cherished grandchildren, Robert, Brenda, Glenwood, Terry Ann, Cheryl, Alan, Ronald, Sharon and Sandra; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Aside from her parents and husband, Ethel was predeceased by a son Ray Hazlett, a daughter Donna Nickerson, a grandson Philip Nickerson, four sisters and four brothers.

There will be no visitation or service by request of the family. A graveside committal service will be held in the Douglas Rural Cemetery later.
