At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday March 12, 2017, Marjorie Virginia Morton of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 86. Born in Aroostook Junction, NB, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Pearl (Drost) Downing.

Marjorie was employed as a weaver at the Marysville Cotton Mill in 1962. She later worked as a cleaner at UNB from the early 70’s until 1988.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. Marjorie especially loved walking and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Larry Belyea; step-daughter Nancy Stever (Bob); five granddaughters Lisa DeWolfe (Terry), Leanna Belyea (Jeff), Lori Lee Belyea (Hal), Lynsey Belyea (Ben) and Jamie Lynn Peyton; seven great grandchildren Kevin, Braden, Sara, Erin, Owen, Joshua, Gracey Mae; two brothers Jerry Downing (Carol), Jim Downing; six sisters Alma Downing, Betty Price (George), Lois Walker, Nina Crookes (Alf), Norma Sherwood, Connie Scott (Larry); sister-in-laws Fran Downing and Margaret Brewer; brother-in-law Richard Waugh; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her special little guy ‘Champ’.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ken Morton; daughter Marguerite Belyea; stepson Ed Morton; grandson Robie Stever; brother Richard Downing; sister Anne Waugh.

The family will receive friends at Marysville Baptist Church on Thursday March 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Marysville Baptist Church on Friday March 17, 2017 at 2 PM with Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will be held later in the spring.

Memorials to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton have been entrusted with the arrangements.
