The passing of Rowena Bartlett occurred on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the York Care Center, Fredericton, NB.  Born on January 31, 1925 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter and last surviving family member of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (White) Stephens.

Rowena graduated from Fredericton High School in 1943 and Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. The love of Rowena’s life, her husband Charles Omar Bartlett, died at the age of 55 in 1977. Rowena spent many years working alongside her family at Woolastook Park and the PEI Wildlife Park in the summer months. In later years she spent her winters in Venice Florida. 

Rowena is survived by her son Stephen Bartlett and his wife Laurie of Terrace BC; daughter Jane Wagner and husband Alan of Richmond BC; grandchildren, Christine McDonald (Tavis) of Terrace BC, Jeff Bartlett of Canmore AB, Katie Awadalla (Elie) of White Rock BC, Andrew Wagner (Pam) of Richmond BC and Kevin Wagner of Vancouver BC. Rowena has four beloved great-grandchildren, River, Rush, Lorelei and Alice. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and enjoyed very special relationships with nieces Anne Smith, Sandra Shanks Dinning and the late June Blizzard. Besides her parents, Rowena was predeceased by her sisters, Betty, Pearl and Evelyn; brothers, Arnold and Raymond.

A Memorial Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church (old stone church), Fredericton, on Thursday February 23rd at 11 AM with a lunch to follow at the church hall. There is no visitation at the funeral home and there will be no Interment Ceremony.
