It is with sad hearts that the family of the late Elmira Jean Thorpe announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday February 16th, 2017. She was 83.  Born in Fredericton NB on April 30, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Gilman and Lois Marshall. Anglican by faith, she was a long time Red Cross Volunteer for over twenty-five years as well as being an avid quilter with the Wilmot morning out group and the I.O.D.E.

Survived by four children; John (Judy) of Geary, Alan (Heather) of Summerside P E I, Lois Thorpe of Ottawa, Beth Thorpe (Brian) of Sunderland, twelve grandchildren, Karen, Pam, Murray, Adam, Samantha, Stephanie, Meaghan, Liam, Kaelen, Andrew, Scott and Madison, several nieces and nephews, seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald Murray Thorpe, her Mother Lois Gilman, one sister Barbara Douglas as well as her stepfather Alan Maxwell.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian red Cross Society.
