Our great sorrow is to inform everyone of the death of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sadie Mary McLean (nee Luke) on January 23, 2017 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Born on April 20, 1924 on Beaton Road, Alaska, PEI she was the first child of Joseph Patrick Luke and Isabelle Arsenault. She was followed by Mary, Francis, Mildred, Ray, Helen, Margaret, Dorothy, Rose, Jimmy, Cecil and Ronnie.

Predeceased by her loving husband, E. Burns McLean, they raised six children: Arnold (Lois), Rolly (Darlie), Steve (Paulette), Joan (Bill), Judy and Laurie (Sally). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and too many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren who Mom always tried to remember by name and birthdate to list here (check the kitchen calendar)

She was predeceased by two grandchildren (our beloved Faye and Joey)

She also had a great circle of friends, especially her birthday club girls and the card party faithful. You are not forgotten cherished friends. She could be found any weekend at every card game she could get to.

Our mother’s house was home to far more than her immediate family. Everyone was welcome to food, shelter and even sleeping room if necessary. Everyone who entered was welcomed with love and open arms.

Resting at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lincoln, NB on Thursday January 26, 2017 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A mass, celebrating her life will be held at the church on Friday January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Father Maria Arokiam as celebrant. Interment to be held in the church cemetery in the spring.

At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any women's shelter or charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted with Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885).
