Elwood Maxwell of New Maryland, New Brunswick took his last voyage-to his Heavenly home on December 15, 2016 from the DECH. He was the eldest child of Charles John Maxwell and Alice Marion (Buck) Maxwell of Dorchester, N.B.

He graduated from Dorchester High School, attended Mount A receiving a BSc and Nova Scotia Technical College from which he obtained his Civil Engineering Degree.

He worked in the Engineering Department of NB Power for 30 years. He retired in 1996. He was a life member of the Engineers Geoscientists New Brunswick and a member of the 25 year Club.

Elwood enjoyed hauling his 5th wheel and touring North America. He especially enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and golfing with his friends. He was famous for his flower gardens which he thoroughly loved.

Elwood is survived by his wife, Marlene (Kierstead - Arbeau); daughter, Shelley (Brian) Wallace; son, Scott; grandchildren, Nicole and Brandon Wallace, Stephanie and Geoffrey (Kate) Maxwell; sisters, Davene (Bill) Price and Robena Maxwell (Basil Wellwood); sister-in-law, Dorothy Maxwell; his step-daughters, Gail (George) Astorino, Nancy (Dale) McCoy; step-grandchildren, Jay Thomas, Jarrod Thomas, Nicholas Astorino, Emily McCoy, Hanna McCoy as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia, his eldest child Diane Elizabeth and younger brother, Stuart Maxwell.

Visitation will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

A service celebrating Elwood’s life will be held at Serenity Free Will Baptist Church (Direction: Hanwell Road to Woodside Lane to Serenity Lane), Fredericton on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Jeff Crabtree will officiate. Donations to Serenity Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or to an organization of the donor’s choice will be appreciated. Interment will be held at Fair Haven Cemetery at a later date.
