GALLAGHER, RONALD  - "I’m only gonna live until I die…"  - Ronald Richard Gallagher of Fredericton passed away on December 6, 2016 at DECH.  Born in Halifax on July 4, 1933, he was the first of two children of Gerald and Myrtle Gallagher (Henneberry).

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucy Gallagher (DiGiacinto), his children Bruce, Kevin, Mark and Suzanne (O’Connor) and Lynn and Danny (Jaillet), grandchildren Nicoletta, Isaac and Sophia, brother-in-law Sandy DiGiacinto, sister-in-law Lorry DiGiacinto-Maples, much loved nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins in Nova Scotia and the US.  Ron was predeceased by his parents and sister Nancy of Vancouver.

Ron met Lucy when he joined the RCMP and served in NB.  He worked at the NY Stock Exchange before being drafted into the US Army, where he served as a military policeman.  His final posting was in Hawaii.

Ron returned to Fredericton to marry his Italian sweetheart before whisking her away to New York.  Upon return to NB, he became a restaurateur operating Pizza Nova and Gallagher’s Restaurant for over 20 years.

In retirement, Ron enjoyed gardening and weekly Canasta games. His own dry Irish humour was a source of much self-amusement. He loved and was loved by his 4 legged grandchildren Ice and Tess. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff in 3 East at DECH for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank the Extra Mural nurses. Donations can be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.

Visitation will be at Bishop's Funeral Home on Friday, December 9 at 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A celebration of Ron’s life will be at St. Dunstan’s Church on Saturday, December 10 at 12 noon. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
