It is with great sadness that we the family of Lillian Ann (Gabriel) Kocsis announces her death after a long struggle with various health issues. She passed away at home in Ottawa, Ontario on November 14, 2016,

Lil was a proud Maliseet Woman and member of St. Mary’s First Nation, who was very fluent in her native language. Lil was one of the first members of St. Mary’s to graduate from Fredericton High School and served in the RCAF as a nurse.

Born in Fredericton in 1938 and was predeceased by her parents Walter and Marion (Nash) Gabriel. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Alexander Kocsis; sons Shandor, Ronald and adoptive son Robert Robertson; grandsons Shawn and Ron; also sisters Christine Gabriel (Charlie), Betty Jean Leon, Donna Aucoin (William) of Glace Bay, NS, Hope Gabriel Bennett (Lee) of Calgary, AB and Joanne Gabriel; a brother Tony Gabriel (Cindy); several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial mass to celebrate the life of Lil at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM officiated by Father Monte Peters and Father Curtis Sappier.

Lil was cremated and interment of ashes will be done at a later date in a private ceremony with family only.
