Robert "Bob" Thornton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 19, 2016 at his residence.

Born in Woodstock, NB, he was a son of the late Edward V. and Margaret G. (Bunker) Thornton.

Bob was retired from the Equipment Room at U.N.B.

Survived by daughters, Terri Leigh Guislain (Mark) of Minto, Sherri Elliott (Mark) of Keswick. 5 grandchildren, Joey Doucet (Brian) of Fredericton, Kara Clark (Trish) of Calgary AB, Lindsay Guislain and Jamie Guislain both residing in Calgary AB, and Matt Guislain of Saint John NB.  One sister Joan (Keith) Shearer of Fredericton.  Also special niece Bettina MacNeil (Bobby) and Kate and Alex. as well as several nieces & nephews.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley Anne Thornton, daughter Margret Elizabeth Thornton, and one brother Edward Thornton.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music, reading, telling stories and jokes.  He had been an avid gardener until recent years.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held in the Rural Cemetery, Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. 

In lieu of flowers those who wish memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, and The Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
