It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Zenus William Patterson announce his sudden passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the age of 72. Zenus was born in Woodstock, NB on March 7, 1944, a son of the late Murray and Geraldine (Dore) Patterson.

Zenus was employed with the City of Fredericton as Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plant from 1979 to 2004. He was a former member of the Capital Winter Club. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing hockey, curling and was a softball pitcher. Zenus loved the great outdoors and always looked forward to fishing trips and going hunting. Known as a "Jack of all trades" and a great handyman, he could fix just about anything. Zenus was also known for his quick and dry sense of humor.

Zenus is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, the former Carol A. Brown. He also leaves behind two much loved and cherished sons, Greg (Tracey) and Darren. Also surviving are, a sister Diana Goodine (Reg); brothers, Ray (Norma), Murray (Lorraine), Terry (Mary) and Shawn (Roxanne); sisters-in-law, Debbie Dunphy (Dale) and Mary Ann Patterson and on the Brown family side, a sister-in-law Betty Martin (Mike) and a brother-in-law Dave Brown (Thérèse) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from his parents, Zenus was predeceased by brothers, Stan and Gary and by sisters, Mavis and Sadie.

The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service celebrating the life of Zenus Patterson will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 28 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. Interment to follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
