It is with sad hearts that the family of Joseph Earl Handrahan announce his peaceful passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Earl was 73. As in life, Earl demonstrated courage and resolve in his final hours.

A well respected and much loved member of the Hanwell Mini Home Park, Earl was known as "a jack of all trades" always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was gifted with the talent to fix just about anything. He especially enjoyed helping his children and their families whether it be house repairs or working on their cars. He was dearly loved by the children in the park and became a "chosen grandfather" to many because of his warm personality, smile and big heart. It was always a delight for Earl to repair the children’s bicycles and make them look like brand new. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He always set out, "to make a difference" in any way he could. Two of Earl’s favorite pastimes was playing Bingo and fishing.

Earl was a devoted family man and he loved his family dearly. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Donna (MacMillan) Handrahan; three loving and cherished children, Meriza "Mitty" Sharpe and husband Randy (also lovingly known as his "second son") of Mazerolle Settlement, Carrie Handrahan (Lori Gray) of Tracy and Les Handrahan of Toronto. His only grandchild, Sierra was the apple of his eye. She was his pride and joy and could do no wrong. They loved spending time together and it was easily noticeable that when Sierra reached for Gramp’s hand, she touched his heart. It was a "granddaughter love" like no other. Earl also is survived by brothers Stephen (Judy) of Benton and Emmett (Late Lynda) of Fredericton and sisters, Marie Gallant (George) of Fredericton and Marjorie MacRae (Bob) of Summerside PEI; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences at Life Tabernacle, 1644 Hanwell Road on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and from where the funeral service will be held Thursday, October 13 at 11 AM with Rev. Terry Messer officiating assisted by Rev. Luke Weaver. Interment to follow in the Benton Village Lighthouse Cemetery, NB. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Life Tabernacle Building Fund or to a favorite charity of your choice. On-line condolences and the sharing of memories can be made at: www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
