It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick William (Pokey) Ames Jr announces his death that occurred on Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at York Care Centre while surrounded by his family.  He was 80 years old.

Fred is survived by his 7 children:  Donna (Larry), Jerry (Eric), Jane (Mike), Dan (Suzanne), Doug (Jolene), Angela (Junior) and Pamela (Dan); 14 grand-children:  Stephanie, Lindsey, David, Danny, Joshua, Jarrett, Madison, Jeremy, Sarah, Emily, Kyle, Jillian, Katelyn and Courtney; 4 great-grand-children:  Sabella, Toby, Stephen and Avery.  He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth (Wilson), two brothers Bobby and John (Sheila) and a sister-in-law Sharon and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (Blizzard) Ames, his father Frederick Senior and his mother Rhoda Ames and his two brothers Michael and Timothy.

The family would like to thank the staff at York Care Centre, Tower 2 for all of the care they provided Fred during his stay and for all of the kindness shown to the family during this difficult time.

By Fred's request, there will be no visitation or service.  A private burial will take place at a later date.
