The death of D. Burpee Pond occurred peacefully at home on August 12, 2016. Born on January 5, 1930, he was a son of the late George and Grace (Estey) Pond.

He leaves behind his wife Betty (Greer) Pond; children Calvin Pond (Carolyn), Kevin Pond, Anna Mae Yerxa (Bev), Albert Wiggins (Cathy), Melody McKinnon (Jim), Tara Hodgin (Sean Little); a sister Beatrice Day (Edward); grandfather to J.D. McKinnon, Malorie Hodgin, Christopher Hodgin, Isaac Hodgin; brother-in-laws Michael Greer (Mavis), Moses Flemming (Marion), Kenneth ‘Bud’ Flemming; nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents he was predeceased by brothers Hubert and Melton, sisters Loreen and Althea, grandson David Wiggins, mother-in-law Mary Charters, father-in-law Hedley Greer and sister-in-law Sharon Veno.

Burpee had many jobs over the years from working with Jim Edwards to his retirement from NB Power Mactaquac in 1992. He loved woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening. He spent hours watching his favorite teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, but the one he loved most was telling stories of the past to his grandchildren.

A service celebrating Burpee’s life will be held on Thursday August 18, 2016 at 4 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road with Pastor Peter Beckwith officiating. Following the service everyone is welcome to a reception at the Odell Park Lodge. Interment will be Friday August 19, 2016 at 11 AM in the Scotch Settlement Cemetery.
