Surrounded by his loving family, Thomas "Tom" John Richard Babstock of Fredericton, husband of the late Jane (Devine) Babstock, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Tom was 83. Born at Glace Bay, NS on February 19, 1933, he was a son of the late Thomas and Eva (Gardiner) Babstock.

A veteran of the Korean War, Tom’s military career with the Canadian Army would span 20 years. Upon his retirement from military service he began employment at UNB in the Graphic Services Department where he worked for 28 years.

Tom was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4, Fredericton.

Tom leaves behind two much loved daughters, Shona Babstock of Ontario and Lindsay (Martin) Hann of Fredericton. He is also survived by three cherished grandchildren, Kirk Gilbert (Samantha Deen), Alexandra Gilbert and Rowena Hann. Tom is also survived by a brother Wayne (Theresa) Babstock and a sister, June Politte (Peter) both of Glace Bay, NS, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Aside from his parents and wife Jane (2009), two brothers, Henry and Winston predeceased him.

There will be no visitation by request. A service celebrating the life of Tom Babstock will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. A Legion Tribute Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 18 beginning at 12:45 PM. Interment will be private.
