Irene Bailey of Fredericton passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Irene owned and operated Bailey’s Rest Home on Priestman Street for over 2 decades, and cared for many senior residents during this time, ensuring they never missed a holiday by decorating the house for all occasions. Many will remember her or the lights and decorations that adorned her home during the Christmas Season.

Irene was an avid traveler whose ventures took her to Europe, Canada, USA and Mexico. The experiences of her travels gave her many happy memories that she carried with her throughout her life.

Irene was a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion #4, Fredericton Branch, and the Fredericton Women’s Auxiliary Command (50+years), SPCA and various other organizations.

Irene is survived by one son, John (Gail), and three daughters, Bonnie (Louis), Sharol (Jimmie) and Sue (Mario), 4  Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren.

Irene was the daughter of the late Abram and Alice Brewer, and the last surviving sibling of the family. She was predeceased by her children, Thomas, Dean, Kevin, Gavin, (twins) Sherry and Sonia, and 1 grandchild Melissa.

The true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul. The caring that she lovingly gives is a reflection of that beauty. She may have lost more in a lifetime than most, yet her spirit remained strong. Each day with renewed determination, she faced each of life’s storms with strength, grace and dignity. In the end, Peace came at last and embraced her and together they completed, "the journey of life".

Visitation and service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed and the family suggest the Alzheimer’s Society, St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Zealand, or SPCA.
