Born July 7, 1928, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Born in at Five Islands, NS, Fred was a son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Atkinson) Cogswell. Surrounded by his loved ones, Fred passed away peacefully at his home in Perth-Andover.

He will be remembered as a strong man of faith whose goal was to bring glory and honor to his Lord, especially in his home. Fred was a faithful member of Smythe Street Cathedral, Fredericton, for many years before moving to Perth-Andover where he began attending Calvary Tabernacle with his wife Alice.

Throughout his working career, Fred was passionate about fostering a culture of integrity, respect, dignity and excellence and many will fondly remember Fred for the many years he worked as Produce Manager for Dominion Stores located on King St. and Smythe St. in Fredericton. He also worked in the retail business as an Ice Manufacturer and later as owner and operator of Co-Star Convenience Stores for a number of years.

His beautiful smile and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fred was a devote family man. He leaves behind his wife Alice (Ebbett-Sadler) Cogswell of Perth-Andover. Fred was a loving and proud father to the late Charlotte T. Cogswell-Vahi who passed away in 1992 and daughter Sandra Stairs (Brian) of Fredericton and son David Cogswell (Cathy) of Parksville, BC. His four grandchildren were always a continuous delight to him, Charlotte Davidson (Steven), Shasta Stairs (Ross Stewart), Chaundra Eagar (Matt) all of Fredericton and Chantelle Vahi of Toronto as well as his much loved great grandchildren, Fred, Gwen, Charlee, Theo, Abram and Archie. Fred is also survived by three step-children, Linda Shaw (Graeme), Joan McLean (Karl) and John Sadler (Cheryl). Fred’s siblings, Joan Till of Geary and Rod Cogswell of Fredericton will treasure his memory forever as will his sister-in-law, Grace MacFadzen of Fredericton. His many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins always held a special place in his heart.

Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor A. (MacFadzen) Cogswell (2000), daughter, Charlotte Cogswell-Vahi (1992); son-in-law Teet Vahi (2000); brothers, Lyle, Ronald, Clair and Don; brothers-in-law, Howard and Eugene MacFadzen.

The family will receive visitors at Smythe Street Cathedral, 913 Smythe St., Fredericton on Saturday evening November 7 from 7-9 PM and from Calvary Tabernacle, 12 Legion Street Extension, Perth-Andover, NB on Sunday evening, November 8 from 6-8 PM, The funeral service will be held from Calvary Tabernacle on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Pastor David Ferrell, Pastor Verner Drost and Pastor Harry Lewis will officiate at the service. Interment in the Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, will be private and at a later date.

            In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested Smythe Street Cathedral "NEXT" Campaign and Calvary Tabernacle Building Fund (Perth-Andover) for memorial contributions.
